2004 Holiday Wish List

A few months back I received an email from a reader asking for some ideas for a gift for her son who is an avid collector of 1/6th scale action figures. While writing her a response I came up with the idea to put a Holiday Wish List together for the magazine. It was important to me that for this list  I get input from readers, retailers, and friends of the magazine like Tommy's Toys . So during the past few months I sent out what seemed to be a ton of email asking for opinions and recommendations, and to all who responded thank you for your help  and your patience. I also made a few trips to  Kmart, Target, BJs Warehouse, Boscov's and Toys R US. Our Holiday Wish List is comprised of  figures, vehicles, and books for everyday play as well as collecting. Some of the pieces are new to the magazine and others we have already reviewed, I guess you can say there is something for everybody.

FIGURES

Hasbros's G.I.JOE Voice FX Duke

The Voice FX Duke will definitely make a hit under the tree. This figure has new talking technology that allows you to control how load of softly Duke will repeat pre-programmed sayings. This figure is a real value and can be found at most retail stores for under $15 dollars. Check out this months review in the In My Opinion section for more information.

Where to Look - Kmart, Target

Hasbro's G.I.JOE Timeless Collection

If you have a Kid (big or small) on your list that likes vintage GIjOE's but you just can't justify the vintage price then this is your answer. The timeless collection is as close to the old Joes as you can get at a fraction of the cost. Each set is as it was back when they were originally issued some 40 years ago. This was the most recommended gift by readers. You can find the Timeless Collection at most retailer for under $40.

In the Past- The Red Baron

Now this figure is really cool, just add a Snoopy and you have the perfect gift. The Red Baron comes with an nice leather jacket and uniform.

Sideshow Collectables - WWI German Trench Raider-

This is a really cool looking figure depicting a WWI  German Trench raider from Sideshow collectables. This guy comes complete with an armored breastplate rifle, and grenades. If you are a WWI buff or have someone on your shopping list who is you really need to check out Sideshow's website.

Ignite Industries -  Outremer II

As anyone who reads our magazine knows I have a soft spot for Ignite figures and to me it just would not be a wish list with out a few of my favorites.

My first pick is the new Outremer II I love the costume and the overall look of the figure.

Ignite Industries - March Pack

My second pick in the Ignite figures is the March pack. This figure was picked for it's wide variety of accessories.

Ignite Industries - Tetonic Knight 1128 AD

My third and final pick for from the Ignite collection is the Tetonic Knight. By far this is the coolest, its has to be the helmet.

Where to Look - Tommy's Toys

Sideshow Collectables - Vlad The Impaler

The subject of this figure is a little dark for the Holiday Season  but it is an outstanding figure and displays real nice. Unfortunately, sideshow is sold out so you will need to check out your local retailer or Ebay. I would recommend you read our  Vlad the Impaler review for a closer look.

Where to Look - eBay

Dragon Model's Soldat 003 Harry Collins

Dragons Soldat is ultra detailed  limited run series. Currently there are three figures in the series depicting  German, US and British WWII paratroopers. While I know there are some retailers that have some old stock of Soldat 001 and 002 they are far and few. Your best bet is to look for Soldat 003 Pvt. Harry Collins. This month we have a new review on Harry Collins in the In My opinion section.

Dragon Models - BARBARIAN SERIES "Olaf" Viking Warrior

Not to be outdone by Ignite Dragon has lunched its Barbarian series. The figures are nicely done and reasonably priced.  Look for a review on this guy in 2005.

Blue Box (bbi) - 4th Anniversary Figure - Sergeant Roger Cook

This is a really nice set which is limited to 2004 pieces. This figure depicts a WWII Airborne Sergeant and includes detailed weapons, parachute, telegraph radio, and more.

Where to Look - Tommy's Toys

Blue Box (bbi) - Elite Aviator George W. Bush

There was a lot of hype and news coverage when bbi announced this figure. and I have to admit bbi did a nice depiction of president Bush decked out in his flight suite.

A little CAF trivia this was one of our first reviews. You can find this review in the In MY Opinion section.

Where to Look - KBtoys, eBay, local Hobby or Comic Book store

Blue Box (bbi) British WWII RAF Squadron Leader Keith Gordon.

Even though this figure has been out for a while it is nicely detailed and  offers a lot of bang for the buck. If you have an aviation or WWII collector on your list this may be that perfect gift.

The set includes the following:

RAF pilot Figure

Glasses
RAF uniform with scarf, Gloved hands and Officers hat
detailed revolver that opens
Flare gun and flares
Life jacket

Vehicles

New Bright 1/6th scale R/C Jeep Wrangler

This is a really cool 1/6th scale R/C vehicle that is loads of fun. Unfortunately, your 1/6th scale Action Figures will have a hard time sitting in this puppy. Despite that, this vehicle is big and a lot of fun. Batteries and a charger are included with this Kit

Where to Look - BJs Warehouse, Target, eBay

New Bright - Harley Davidson Fat boy

This is still one of my favorites and most used toys. The Harley Davidson Fat boy can be found at most retailers for under $40 and comes in black and red.

Where to Look - Kmart, Ebay

James DeSimone - PBR Boat

This is a fantastic Gift and project for Dad and the kids. This boat has "customize me" written all over it. If you have someone on your list who is looking for a great project or a 1/6 scale boat to display their figures in, then this is the gift to get.
