Review

The following review is on Ignites latest figure in their Viking series called Viking Mercenaries. This is the third figure in the Viking series, and like its predecessors it is a home run. The Viking Mercenaries borrows some elements from past Ignite figures while at the same time introduces some fresh new elements.

This figure like all Ignite figures is packed in a book type box that is nicely illustrated with a image of a group of Vikings standing in a wooded area on the front cover.  On the inside cover there is a time line of the Vikings, and the figure is viewable behind a plastic inner box. The back of the box has a  history of the Vikings and some photos of the figure and the accessories.

The head sculpt is awesome, and bares a resemblance of a certain professional wrestler. The paint job and detail are right on the money, with no noticeable defects this figure has quality written all over it.

The body is a standard Ignite figure that is very articulate and poses very well. The Viking's body had no defects all the joints were tight and the figure posed well. The only complaint I have is with Ignite figures in general, they need to add more articulation in the wrist. Other than that the body is great.

The Vikings costume is outstanding and deserves high marks. It consist of a leather like outer tunic, a grey cloth tunic, Pants which have a soft suede feel to them, boots and a leather belt. The helmet is die-cast and looks like it's seen some heavy fighting. Finally there is chain mail attached to his helmet to protect his neck. One note the details on the chain mail and helmet are impressive.

All of the accessories are made of die-cast and plastic, and are superbly done. The Viking Mercenaries includes a shield, sword with sheath, bone handled dagger with sheath, pouch, helmet and chain mail.

  Summary:

The Viking Mercenary is an excellent figure that borrows from past Ignite figures while also adding some new elements to the series.
