IgniteTeutonic Knight

July 4, 2004

Ignite's has just released it's forth figure in their Crusade Series entitled Teutonic Knight. This figure builds upon the other three figures in the series borrowing many of the  same elements. As with all of the Crusade series the box is a book type with a picture of the Teutonic Knight standing at attention and a battle raging in the background. Once the box is opened you get a view of the Knight and his accessories as well a brief history of the order of the Teutonic Knight's on the inside cover. Ignite's boxes in general are outstanding, they add value through the artwork and historical information provided. If that was not enough the boxes provide a excellent display and protective case.

The Teutonic Knight's head sculpt is very nice and looks incredible. The face is very familiar but I can't make out who he reminds me of. While Inspecting the head sculpt I did notice a minor defect with the paint job, the face had some over paint from the beard. It should be known that I am nitpicking here and most people would never have noticed this defect. The hair color is a little bit on the green side which I feel hurts the look, if this is Ignite's version of blonde hair they really need to work on a new color formula. The body is Ignites standard figure that is very articulate and has a lot of quality built in.

This Teutonic Knight uses a lot of the costume elements from previous Crusade figures. The figure has ignites standard multilayered suite consisting of a white tunic with black leggings and a leather garter supporting the leggings. Next is a red padded tunic with side clasp and a full suit of chain mail covers the entire figure. The chain mail is a cloth with metallic fabric woven in it and it has leather pads on the feet and hands. A white tunic and cape with with black cross covers the chain mail suit.   To wrap up the whole costume there is a set of red vinyl belts that looks like leather with brass buckles.

Accessories:

Before I go through the list of accessories I have to make a comment about the Teutonic Knight's helmet is is down and out awesome. It is a full face helmet similar to previous ones in the series but it has a set of horns and scales My compliments go out to the Ignite designers on this one.

The rest of the accessories are equally well done. There is a shield with a black cross on the front. The shields straps and rigging are made of real leather.   The battle axe is die cast with a simulated wood handle. There is a chromed die cast dagger and sword that are very detailed and outstanding.

Summary:

If you have not already figured it out I am partial to medieval figures, and if you are like me then you need to add this one to your collection. The hair color is my only real complaint here, Ignite has not yet mastered blond hair. The helmet is my favorite part  and it makes the figure. This Teutonic Knight is worth the price of admission and I would say it's a keeper.
