Hasbro Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular

Last July during the GIjOE 40th Anniversary Convention held at Walt Disney world in Orlando Florida, a Disney exclusive figure based on the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular was being sold at the park. After some searching I was able to locate one of the figures for review on Ebay at a nice discount. Initially I was extremely excited about this figure, it has three things going for it GIjOE, Disney and Indiana Jones. After what seemed to be an eternity the figure finally arrived and while opening the box I was  expecting to have my socks knocked off, unfortunately, instead of WOW my reaction was That's It! This entire set is a collection of off the shelf Joe parts that we have all seen countless times.

Review

The box is a open window type that is nicely decorated in a Indiana Jones motif. The front has a picture of Harrison Ford in his role of Indiana Jones. The back has some stills from the Raiders of the Lost Arc movie and a blurb about the Indiana Jones Epic stunt Spectacular Show and how the director has selected GIjOE for leading role. The box is one of the few new parts to this set and the highlight of the figure.

If you are looking for a Harrison Ford head sculpt you wont find it here, the head sculpt on this figure is one of the standard heads found on the carded GIjOES . Our test figure's head sculpt had no visible blemishes or overspray and was nicely done like most GIjOES. The figure itself is a modern GIjOE very articulate and muscular.

The figure is sporting an Indian Jones costume cobbled together from the what I can only guess to be the Hasbro parts bin. I swear the majority of this costume came from the Tuskegee Air Men set. The jacket just does not fit right and looks show room new; they should have at lest made it look a little worn.  I will admit the Stetson is nice and the best part of the costume.

The accessories that come with this kit are pretty cool. There is a Sarcophagus with a Mummy whose hand can be made to lift the lid. Three rubber snakes (I hate snakes) some jewels, A totally out of place recycled bag, and a outstanding bullwhip that Zorro would envy.

  Summary:

This figure and set are very average in all categories.  If the  Hasbro, Disney, and Lucasfilm logos were not all over it I would not have given it much thought. At the $40 sticker price I feel its a little on the high side but I guess someone has to pay for the licensing. Who knows perhaps if you burry it in your closet for 2000 years it may be worth something to some collector.
