On May 1, 2003 President George W. Bush landed on the USS Abraham Lincoln to signify the liberation of Iraq. To commiserate this historic event Blue Box Incorporated (bbi) has created the Elite Forces Aviator: George W. Bush. This figure is a K.B.Toy exclusive which means don’t look for it in you favorite comic book shop or the local Target.
Our evaluation figure was part of K.B Toy’s big preorder campaign during August 2003. After what seemed to be an eternity George was finally delivered in mid October 2003. The cost of the figure was $39.99 excluding shipping. Since most of my in-laws are die hard democrats I have been taking a little more than my share of ribbing. I have been reminded that there is a little controversy of an A.W.O.L and a fella named Chad from Florida. All I have to say is “Get over it you lost the election" and I don’t care it all has no bearing on the figure and the most outstanding job done by the team at bbi. The figure comes in a blue box with a photo of President George W. Bush waving as jets are taking off and landing. For the most part the outside of the box is most uneventful and nothing much to write home about. But once you pop the lid you will swear it’s a mini me version of President Bush. The head sculpt is extremely detailed and beautifully painted. The detail to the eyes, hair and nose are nothing short of fantastic. The Body is very articulate and comes with four interchangeable hands giving the figure the ability to salute, give the thumbs up and hold weapons and accessories. One note no weapons were included with the figure (bummer). The figures suite is extremely well executed. The detail of the flight and jump suits are incredible they are filled with all sorts of working belts and zippers. Once you get through the maze of belts and open the jump suit you will find a full yellow T-shirt, no half shirt or dickey here. It should be noted that the box makes an excellent display case allowing access to the figure and full view of all assessors while providing protection from the environment.
The details on this figure are incredible and example can be found on the air regulator that is attached to the fight suit; there is micro writing with the manufactures name and identification information just like on its real counterpart. In order to read this information you will need a magnifying glass and a strong light source. I do have one last thing to mention about the suite, all of the pockets work. This attention to detail shows the painstaking level bbi has gone through to add to this figures authenticity. You really need to see this figure in person to get an appreciation for it.
The accessories are right on the mark extremely detailed and a lot for the eye to absorb. The first thing you notice however is that there are two empty slots on the upper right hand corner of the box just above the flash light. Could this be where the missing weapons of mass destruction were to be placed? Sorry I could not resist. On the level there is a wrist watch, radio, air hose, life vest (I think that’s what it is), working helmet and visor and an extra set of hands. To finish every thing off they have included a display stand.
The George Bush action figure is well executed and a great figure. Is it going to become the next big collectable that will supplement your early retirement, I don’t think so but, its definitely something to add to your collection.
